2. Has my child’s follow-up appointment been scheduled? With who? 
   
3. What are key warning signs I need to watch out for? Who do I call if they happen?
   
4. What special equipment does my child need? What special instructions do I need (wound care, injections, etc.)?
   
5. What kinds of activities and foods are limited? For how long?
   
6. Are my child’s new medicines safe to take with their other medicines, vitamins or supplements?
   
7. Do I know how and when to give my child’s medicines and how I will get prescriptions filled?
   
8. Do I need any help taking care of my child once we’re home?
   
9. Who can help me if I have concerns about medical costs?
   

After your child’s stay, make an appointment to see their doctor for any follow-up tests that may be needed.

Going Back to School

Early in your child's hospital stay, talk to the doctor to find out how long your child will be out of school and how treatment might affect their ability to do schoolwork. Then work with your child's teacher to create a plan for completing assignments or tasks. Also be sure to let the teacher know if your child will need any special accommodations. Talk to your discharge planner for help.
